Contra Dance is an American folk tradition similar to Square Dance only we dance in long lines to live music! Come alone, with a partner or with friends. There is a Caller who teaches each new dance and prompts the moves throughout the dance. When that dance is over, you thank your partner and ask someone else for the next dance. Experienced dancers will often ask new folks to dance to help them learn the ropes. The music tends to be Irish Jigs and Reels and/or Klezmer, Old-time, Bluegrass etc. Bring your dance shoes and a water bottle and perhaps a snack to share at the break.
