Featured Speakers:
Alice Kessler is a Sacramento-based legislative strategist with law advocacy firm DiMare Brown Hicks and Kessler, and is a driving force behind some of the most comprehensive civil rights protections in the nation for LGBTQ individuals.

Lisa Cisneros helped launch California Rural Legal Assistance’s LGBTQ program in 2007 and is now the Program Director, increasing access to justice and civic engagement opportunities for low-income LGBTQ communities statewide.

Alice Kessler and Lisa Cisneros will shed light on pressing LGBTQ equality issues in California and nation-wide, where the movement is headed now that marriage equality is the law of the land, and the role of LGBTQ civil rights in the upcoming elections and vacant Supreme Court Justice seat.

Local LGBTQ activists Lesley Harrison of the Diversity Center and Adam Spickler of the GLBT Alliance will end the discussion with a brief overview of local efforts supporting LGBTQ Santa Cruz County residents. Discussion will be followed by an audience Q & A.

This event is organized by the Democratic Women’s Club and GLBT Alliance, and is co-sponsored by the Diversity Center, the Santa Cruz County Democratic Party, the People's Democratic Club and Santa Cruz Chapter of the ACLU.
