Transgender Teen Project of Santa Cruz County

The Trans Teen Project is a new project of STRANGE and the Santa Cruz County Task Force for LGBTIQ Youth focused on transgender students in middle school and high school. The goal is to bring attention to gender identity/expression of students K-12 and how AB 537 mandates safe schools for all students, including Transgender students.

Winter & Spring 2005

The Project will be working with local community organizations to help bring visibility to the new GSA Network tool kit: Beyond the Binary -- A Tool Kit for Gender Identity Activism in Schools.

The manual is an informative, nuts-and-bolts guide that will help students and allies fight for gender justice. It features compelling personal accounts of gender identity and its complexity at home and in school. Student activists will find legal advice, community resources, model policies, training curriculum, and organizing strategies.

The manual is produced through a collaboration between the GSA Network, Transgender Law Center, and the National Center for Lesbian Rights. Download a copy of Beyond the Binary.

Fall 2004

The Trans Teen Project worked with community organizations to produce the Transgender Youth Awareness Month in October (Queer History Month).
